Alondra Carter-Alvizo
Alondra Carter-Alvizo is a lifelong Detroiter originally from Guadalajara, Jalisco. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness Management from Michigan State University with a minor in Leadership and Integrated Learning (2018) and a Master of Urban Planning from Wayne State University with a concentration in Urban Sustainability (2022). About Alondra Carter-Alvizo
Carter-Alvizo has worked in multiple disciplines throughout Detroit including the art scene coordinating murals in Southwest uplifting local talent through national partnerships. She has extensive experience in small business development and resource consolidation from her previous roles with MSU Extension as a Detroit Innovation Counselor and the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation as Program Director of Detroit Means Business. Under her leadership, Detroit Means Business served as a convener of the small business support ecosystem for National Small Business Week with the annual Detroit Means Business Summit. Carter-Alvizo was also instrumental in the co-creation of a collaborative effort, Shop Small Detroit, an online directory of small businesses to support during the holidays and beyond. Today, Alondra Carter-Alvizo serves as the Associate Director of Community Engagement for Michigan Central where she continues her commitment to uplifting local narratives in community and economic development.
