The Southwest Detroit Whippet WipeOut Campaign Coalition’s mission is to reduce whippet (Nitrous Oxide) abuse and littering within the 48209 and 48210 Zip Codes through community-based intervention methods.

The Whippet Wipeout Campaign will do this by establishing collaborative workgroups focused on:

• Identifying the sources of procurement
• Building community awareness of health and safety issues regarding nitrous oxide abuse
• Providing access to nitrous oxide abuse health education information.
• Supporting community-wide collection and responsible disposal of nitrous oxide containers at identified sites

The Coalition will provide a framework for other neighborhoods and communities to conduct their own clean-up initiatives by sharing resources and best practices developed by the coalition’s workgroups to ensure equitable steps are taken to reduce nitrous oxide abuse within communities. The Coalition will continue to raise awareness of the public health, safety, and environmental hazards of nitrous oxide in partnership with our Southwest Detroit community.
