About La Joya Gardens Development Project

As you may have noticed, fencing has recently gone up around the La Joya Gardens project site located on the vacant parcels at 4000 – 4060 W. Vernor Hwy. La Joya Gardens is a mixed-use building that will provide 53 residential units — of which 42 will be affordable at 30 percent to 80 percent AMI — and commercial spaces starting this winter at the Southwest corner of W. Vernor Hwy. and Palm Street.

The new fencing is intended to protect the warming blankets that have been placed on the parcels, which will help prevent the ground from freezing and allow for excavation work to begin. The development team is aiming to close on the financing for the project by the end of the month, and then construction activity will begin shortly thereafter. In the meantime, there may be site work occurring as soon as later this week (week of January 23, 2023) by construction crews who will clear and start leveling the ground.

Please click the link below to view a construction notification flyer in English and Spanish, along with a short presentation on the project. We encourage you to share the information with your neighbors and anyone else who may be interested.
