The Mexicantown-Hubbard Communities Main Street Program
Southwest Detroit Business Association (SDBA) and Mexicantown Community Development Corporation (MCDC) are the two partner organizations behind the reactivation of the Mexicantown Hubbard Communities (MHC) Main Street Program. Together with local businesses, residents and community stakeholders they are implementing a comprehensive, commercial district economic development program.
The work of Mexicantown Hubbard Communities is structured around four major focus areas (organization, promotion, design and economic restructuring). Each focus area has a committee of community stakeholders that volunteer their time and resources to the goals and objectives of each committee.
The program received two LISC Building Sustainable Communities Early Action Grants in 2016, which supported the initial Main Street Program objectives, including the creation of a printed and digital marketing brochure, with a listing of all businesses, nonprofit organizations and cultural events in the Mexicantown-Hubbard Communities.
The boundaries for the Mexicantown-Hubbard Communities Commercial District are W. Vernor Hwy., from Clark to 18th St., and Bagley Ave., from 24th St. to 16th St.
