The Center of Music & Performing Art’s Southwest have announced new programming aimed at exposing adults to cultures of the world through dance. The first World Tour was in collaboration with El Alma Española workshop focused on Flamenco. Flamenco is a very emotional style of dance that focus on dramatic expression through facial expressions and movements. Participants learned basic technique, footwork, flamenco turns, body posture, movement and coordination and ended with a short choreographed dance.
Executive Director of COMPAS, Guadalupe Martinez stated what makes this class unique because “It takes students beyond the steps to incorporate style and expression. Enjoy, work, think, and increase your self-confidence while learning to use your body to express characters and emotions.”
The next World Tour workshop will be held on March 9, 2018 and will focus on Afro-Cuban dance from 6:30-8:30 pm. Register here to reserve your spot now!
